This season of Lent, we will walk with Jesus on his last journey on the road from a Samaritan Village to Jericho, Bethany, and on to Jerusalem and the cross. Along the way we will encounter rejection, the healing of sight, a lonely man restored to faith and community, sisters grieving, and the raising of a man to new life from his burial tomb.
This journey will be one of hope, healing and leaning into God’s promised future, beginning on Ash Wednesday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary at Rollag Lutheran. Supper will begin at 6:30, with worship at 7:30 on the following dates and locations:
· Gran - March 12: Response to Rejection (Luke 9:51-62)
· Park - March 19: Healing of Sight (Luke 18:35-43
· Rollag - March 26: Restoring the Lonely (Luke 19:1-10)
· Gran - April 2: Unbinding and Letting Go (John 11:17-44)
· Park - April 9: Fragrant Act of Loving Devotion (John 12:1-19)
Our 8th and 9th grade confirmands will help lead these worship services, including the sharing of their faith statements. Along with the sharing of faith, there will be an opportunity for handwritten prayers to be folded and placed in the Prayers of the Heart Jar. These prayers will not be read by anyone, but they will be lifted as incense (Psalm 141:2: "May my prayer be set before you like incense.") as they are burned in the firepit outside the church building at the close of the Maundy Thursday service on April 17 at Rollag.
